Shipments up 26 per cent in the first quarter of 2025

Brazilian fruit exports jumped 26 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2024.

Data from national supply company Conab shows that between January and March, 301,000 tonnes of fruit were exported. Sales totalled US$311mn, representing a 7 per cent increase compared to the first quarter of 2024 and a 23 per cent increase on the same period in 2023.

The states that led exports were Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, São Paulo, and Pernambuco, while the main purchasing countries were the Netherlands, UK, and Spain. The most exported fruits were melons, watermelons, lemons and limes, mangoes, and bananas.

“The year started promisingly, with good sales to Europe and Asia. Sales and volume have increased compared to previous years, with sales of mini-melons from Rio Grande do Sul, especially melons, as well as lemons and limes, standing out,” Conab stated.
