Washington Apples has announced two new brand ambassadors to help build its presence in India, with actor and youth icon, Disha Patani, and the country’s trusted voice on food, Sanjeev Kapoor, signing up to promote the fruit.
The announcement was made in New Dehli and coincided with the launch of a new campaign that centres around the use of the hashtag #WashingtonApplesKuchhKhaasHai.
President of the Washington Apple Commission, Todd Fryhover, spoke of the importance of India as a market for Washington Apples.
“The country has been the top three markets for Washington Apples globally for a few years now and is destined for further growth,” he said.
“Our campaign focuses on creating awareness among Indian consumers about Washington Apple varieties, best practices, food safety and the fine growing conditions that exist for apple growing in the State of Washington.”
Patani and Kapoor spoke of their excitement of being a part of the campaign, adding, “we are convinced that Washington Apples are grown in highly suitable conditions and are packed and shipped with great care that results in best quality and a safe product, it was an easy choice to make.
“Healthy snacking is a challenge for most, and Washington Apples fits perfectly as an anytime snack,” the pair noted.
Washington Apple Commission’s in-country marketing representative, Sumit Saran, said the duo represented a ‘perfect fit’ for the brand.
“We are honoured that both of them decided to support our efforts. We look to them spreading the good word about Washington Apples among their fans and followers. The season for Washington Apple peaks when the season for Indian Apples ends, making good quality apples available to Indian consumers all year round,” said Saran.
