The Chinese division of the multinational retail corporation Walmart has confirmed it will open three new outlets by the close of May.
This affirmation comes after recent rumours that the company is to close its stores in China and withdraw its capital, which the retailer strongly denies.
In October 2012, the company announced plans to open over 100 new outlets in China over the next three years.
The Chinese PR department for Walmart said in a statement that there is no change in these plans for the Chinese market.
Walmart also stated that its three new stores to open before the end of May will include a shopping centre in Shenzhen, located in South China’s Guangdong province. The other two will be branches of Sam’s Club, Walmart’s chain of membership-only retail warehouses, in eastern China’s Hangzhou and Suzhou.
