Walmart China

Global retail giant Walmart has appointed Morten Knudsen as its chief financial officer in Asia as it rebuilds its management team in the region.

Mr Knudsen, who was formally vice president for corporate affairs in Asia for Danone, will take up his new role on 1 September, according to a report by Bloomberg.

In the last three months Walmart has lost Japanese chief Toru Noda and three of its top executives in China.

The departures have come at a time when the company is expanding aggressively into Asia. Last year Walmart opened 49 stores in China with the company predicting the country will become the world’s largest retail market by 2014 - overtaking the US.
