Publically listed Vietnamese property developer Vingroup has upped its investment in the fresh produce industry, with subsidiary VinEco launching its first range of products at Vinmart and Vinmart+ supermarkets.
Vingroup has rented land across Vietnam and invested Vnd1 trillion (US$45m) in high tech production using technology from Japan and Israel, with a 24.5ha glasshouse already built in Vinh Phuc province in the north of Vietnam, according to Tuoi Tre News.
The group is also establishing operations in Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Cu Chi and Kon Tum.
VinEco was established in March this year as part of Vingroup’s venture in agriculture, with its greenhouses expected to supply 30 tonnes of 14 kinds of vegetables each day, with 4,000 tonnes expected to be produced before the end of this year.
