The value of Vietnamese fresh produce exports over the first quarter of 2015 has risen 13 per cent to US$274m compared to the corresponding period of 2014, according to a report by Far Eastern Agriculture.
Citing figures from Vietnam’s Southern Horticultural Research Institute, the report suggested that quarter-on-quarter exports to South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong increased by 100 per cent, 300 per cent and 230 per cent respectively. Fresh fruit and vegetable exports from the South East Asian nation are tipped to top US$2bn for the 2015 calendar year.
Conversely, Vietnamese fresh produce imports dipped to US$53.3m over the first three months of 2015, down 42 per cent on the same period of 2014.
