Southern Australia's rural Victoria region is bracing itself for more flooding as further rain is forecast tomorrow (Thursday).
Up to now, flood damage to crops in this highly agricultural region has not been as bad as first anticipated when heavy rain first caused rivers across the area to swell or burst their banks last weekend.
But today (Wednesday) State Emergency Services warned of 'a lot of crop damage' in the rural areas of Horsham after tomorrow's (Thursday) showers. Some crops 'will be totally lost', one SES volunteer told ABC News.
Australia's Weather Bureau said rainfalls of around 20-30mm on high ground are expected in Victoria tomorrow, with the potential for a maximum fall of 50mm around the alpine area. Some 10-15mm could fall on lower-lying areas, it said.
Victoria Premier John Brumby told ABC News that the flood clean-up could take several weeks, and warned there could be more floods to come with expectations of further rain in coming weeks.
