Nearly 100 exporters and more than 60 buyers from 19 countries line up fruit export deals
A matchmaking event for Thai exporters and international customers has facilitated more than Bt2bn (US$59mn) in sales of fresh fruit.
The event, organised by the Thai Ministry of Commerce’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), is now in its sixth year.
This year it brought together 96 Thai exporters and 65 importers, buyers and distributors from 19 countries and regions including China, Europe, the US, Japan, Australia, the Middle East, South Asia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
The business matching activities took place both online and in person, and resulted in over 500 scheduled appointments.
The most sought-after products included durian, longan, mangosteen, coconut, and various processed fruit items.
Deputy commerce minister Napintorn Srisunpang said the event also held a ceremony were a MoU (memorandum of understanding) was signed between Thai fruit exporters and eight trading partners including China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia.
This year, DITP still plans for 30 more projects to promote foreign markets and increase, such as promoting fruit sales in collaboration with department stores abroad and promoting fruit trade negotiations at international exhibitions.
