Heavy flooding in several provinces throughout Thailand has led to fruit and vegetable price rises at a time of peak demand, reports the Bangkok Post.
Traders from across Thailand flocked to the northern province of Tak to buy agricultural goods to store and process prior to the national vegetarian festival, due to take place next week, the report said.
Cucumber prices have doubled from seven to eight baht to 16 to 17 baht per kilogram, goat peppers from 15 baht to 30 baht a kilogram, tomatoes from eight to 10 baht to 20 to 25 baht a kilogram, the paper said.
Flooding in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima has destroyed crops, the paper said.
