Marketing and business development expert Teresa Ciprian has joined Zespri as an independent director on the New Zealand company’s board of directors.Ciprian has spent over 12 years at senior level with Danone, a Fortune 500 company present in over 140 countries.
“We’re very pleased to have Teresa’s experience in both international business development and health marketing on the Zespri board,” said Zespri Chairman Peter McBride. “As the kiwifruit industry heads into a period of strong growth, it’s even more important that we have a broad range of strong governance skills on the board.”
Ciprian said she was honored to be the first woman appointed to the Zespri board. “Zespri is a strong brand and a New Zealand business with significant global potential,” Ciprian explained. “The industry has a goal of increasing export revenue to NZ$3bn (US$2.3bn) by 2025 and I welcome the opportunity to contribute this success.”
Ciprian has held senior roles with Danone in both the US and France, where her roles focused on a number of international markets. Since returning to her native New Zealand, Ciprian has advised a number of internationally-focused businesses on their growth strategies and has developed a governance portfolio that also includes the boards of Firstlight Foods, AgResearch and Aviation New Zealand.
