Victor Anderson has been appointed T&G Global’s regional manager of South East Asia and head of T&G’s new office to be opened in Bangkok, Thailand.
The office builds on the joint venture with Zespri announced at Fruit Logistica in Berlin in February, which will see T&G sell Zespri kiwifruit as well its own branded produce in markets such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.
“Building on our China office opening in 2015 we will shortly open a new South East Asia office in Bangkok to service that region,” T&G Global CEO Alastair Hubert said during the T&G AGM on 21 June.
“This expansion builds on our new joint venture with Zespri and will be a gateway into the region not only for sales of kiwifruit but other categories as well, notably our popular Jazz and Envy apples.”
The company has also opened an office in Washington State in the US as part its expansion of its North American pipfruit programme.
Strong returns
T&G Global has reported record revenues in 2015/16, with a 12 per cent increase seeing revenue surpass NZ$800m.
The New Zealand-based company reported profit before tax of NZ$30.2m, up from NZ$19.9m the prior year, aided by strong returns from its pipfruit division as well as consolidation and simplification in other divisions.
“The integration of Apollo Apples into an expanded and realigned T&G Pipfruit division progressed successfully; and we completed the acquisition of the two glasshouse operations – Rianto and Great Lake Tomatoes as part of our T&G Covered Crops division. These significantly add to our growing capacity,” Hubert said, adding that T&G is now the largest grower by volumes and value in New Zealand across several categories.
