Netherlands-based retailer Spar International has confirmed it plans to open 25 stores in India by 2012.
The company began its journey in India three years ago and is set to open its fourth store in the country next week.
A spokesperson for Spar said the company was confident the expansion, done in conjunction with its Indian partner Max Hypermarkets, would be a success.
'The fact that we work with local partners is proving to be absolutely invaluable,' the spokesperson told Just-Food.com.
India's rapidly expanding retail sector is an attractive option for multinational companies with the UK's Tesco and US chain Wal-Mart among those who have teamed up with local companies to gain a foothold the market.
