Indonesian retailer Ramayana has announced it will partner with Spar International to open 30 Spar supermarkets in Indonesia over the coming three years.
The announcement comes as part of Spar’s broader development in Asia, with the first store in Indonesia to open by the end of 2014.
“Our new partnership with Ramayana in Indonesia is consistent with Spar International’s strategic focus on partnering with leading local and regional chains in growth markets in Asia,” said Spar's international retail directorTobias Wasmuht in a joint press release. 'Ramayana has a proven record of success and a strong entrepreneurial culture andrepresent a great strategic partner for SparInternational.'
In August, Spar announced it would partner with Indian retailer Max Hypermarket to operate Spar supermarkets across India, and continues to grow its presence in China, where it operates 250 stores.
“Our ambition is that all our stores operate to the best international standards in terms of food quality and service,” said Agnus Makmur, president of Ramayana. “Our new partnership with Spar International will ensure that we achieve this, while delivering a great shopping experience to our customers.”
Ramayana operates 118 stores across Indonesia under Ramayana, Robinson and Cahaya banners.
