South Korea has shipped five tonnes of Haneul Green-branded geobong grapes to China, having previously exported the fruit to Taiwan and Vietnam earlier this month.
According to a report by the Korea Herald, the shipment marks the first time South Korea has exported fresh fruit to China.
The publication reported that agriculture minister Lee Dong-Phil joined 13 local vineyards in Cheonan, South Chungcheon Province, to see off the shipment.
The decision to send the fruit despite China's economic slowdown was taken due to the country's demand for healthy, high-end fresh products, the agriculture ministry said.
