Vegetable seed breeding company Rijk Zwaan is set to showcase a number of innovative products at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong, with snacking vegetables very much front and centre.
Snack tomatoes in a variety of colours, the one-bite cucumber and Silky Pink tomatoes complete with packaging ideas are some of the products the Netherlands-based group will display during the three-day event.
According to Rijk Zwaan, snack vegetables is a trend that is 'here to stay in both retail and foodservice', with consumers in Asia – just like in the rest of the world – increasingly choosing vegetables they can eat ‘on the go’, with snack tomatoes 'the clear favourite'.

The group is displaying an extensive range of tasty snack vegetables in a wide choice of sizes and colours: red, orange, yellow or pear-shaped snack tomatoes, light-green or bicolour mini cucumbers and mini bell peppers in a variety of colours.
Rijk Zwaan is also presenting its latest additions to its Silky Pink range. This sweet pink tomato – which is extremely popular in Asia – is not only available as a cocktail version, but now also as cherry tomato and beef tomato versions.
Other new additions to the assortment are Sweet Palermo sweet pointed peppers in various colours, while Rijk Zwaan is also set to reveal a number of innovations in its lettuce range, including new varieties that are suitable for hydroponics and plant factories.
'During the event, the vegetable breeding company is looking forward to meeting Asian chain partners to discuss ways of further developing the fresh produce category, as is currently being done through the Rijk Zwaan Retail Center in Berlin,' the group said.
