Demand for Sinclair’s compostable EcoLabel continues to grow, according to the company’s vice president of global marketing Kelly Kirschner.
Made from a blend of thermoplastic starch and biodegradable synthetic polymers, the EcoLabel has been designed to disintegrates within 12 weeks or less.
Kirschner said a growing consumer conscious around food safety and environmentally friendly products has generated strong interest in the product.
“It’s food-safe and complies with relevant FDA and EU legislation for use in direct food contact applications,” Kirschner explained. “We are happy to support our customers with a ‘green’ alternative and we’re pursuing other opportunities to innovate and continuously offer improved labeling solutions.”
The compostable label is compatible with Sinclair’s full line of labelling equipment and is suitable for use on all types of loose produce, including organic lines.
