Multinational retail giant 7-Eleven's Chinese off-shoot, Seven-Eleven Beijing Co, is planning a major expansion programme in regional capitals across China, reports Chinadaily.com.
Seven-Eleven Beijing vice president Liu Yue said the firm wanted to set up stores in 'one or two places a year'.
'The market is huge,' he said. 'But we are not going to go too fast. We need to prioritise and find the best partnerships.'
Analysts cite rapid urbanisation in China as the reason for the growing convenience store sector, which is dominated by foreign players.
Seven-Eleven Beijing currently operates 151 stores in Beijing and 53 in Chengdu.
