SanLucar is aiming to build its profile in the Far East at next week’s Asia Fruit Logistica trade show in Hong Kong.
The company has already built a reputation as a premium supplier of cherries, citrus and table grapes – particularly Crimson Seedless – to the region. With a portfolio of more than 90 varieties of fruits and vegetables from 35 different countries, the Spanish-headquarted firm is confident it has even more to offer markets across Asia.
“We are in the beginning stage of our journey into the Asian market”, explained Holger Brandt, SanLucar’s international business development director.
“Step by step we have been able to get to know better and better the needs and preferences of consumers in these countries.”
SanLucar has so far focused its attention on China and South East Asia, where Brandt said a growing number of discerning consumers are showing a willingness to pay an appropriate price for high quality fresh produce.
“Among our competitive advantage is our own production,” Brandt added. “It allows us to offer new products and varieties and meet the taste of the Asian consumers.”
This year will mark SanLucar’s third straight appearance at Asia Fruit Logistica.
“We want to deepen our business relationships in China and South East Asia and establish new contacts,” Brandt said.
