Australian regulatory authorities have confirmed the vine-killing disease Psa is present on kiwifruit orchards in the Goulburn Valley.
At this stage, the detection is confined to 4.5ha of a 154ha property in Bunbartha, owned by leading Australasian group Seeka.
In a statement issued via the NZX, Seeka said there had been no significant deteriorationsince the company notified authoritiesof“unusual bacterial related symptoms” at its orchards earlier this month.
“Seeka has moved to contain the outbreak and is working with the Agriculture Victoria and the relevant Australian Federal Authorities,” the statement read.
Seeka does not expect any material financial impact on the current year as a result of the detection.
