Woolworths-owned Progressive Enterprises has announced plans to build five new Countdown stores in New Zealand’s upper North Island as part of an ongoing investment programme.
Progressive last year committed to spending A$200m per year on rebranding and expansion over the next five years. The plan calls for the rebranding of all of its stores under the Countdown banner, as well as the construction of new stores and refurbishment of existing ones.
The retailer added four new Countdown stores last year, and it now plans to build new stores at Beachlands in coastal Manukau City, at St Johns in the east of Auckland City, at Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands, and in Warkworth and Hamilton.
