Pakistan expects a significant increase in kinnow exports to Indonesia following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the countries to establish a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Abdul Wahid of the All-Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Importers and Merchants Association told the Associated Press of Pakistan exports of kinnow could increase to as much as 45,000 tonnes between January and April of next year, with a value of around US$23.85m. Currently the country sends around 8,000 tonnes to Indonesia, he said.
An FTA would see a reduction of the current 35 per cent duty on citrus imports to Indonesia from Pakistan.
