Prince Filip of Belgium and Port of Antwerp alderman Marc van Peel have today opened a second branch office of the Antwerp Port Authority in India, as the Belgian port seeks to further promote its activities in the country.
The office, located in the economic growth city of Pune, will be headed up by Guarav Mane, who will maintain close contact with Indian entrepreneurs in a bid to generate new trade in both directions.
The Antwerp Port Authority opened its first Indian branch office in Mumbai in 2006, with the ports of Jawaharlal Nehru (Nhava Sheva) and Mumbai of greatest importance for importing and exporting a range of products.
Last year, some 4m tonnes of freight were carried to and from India via Antwerp.
