PMA Australia-New Zealand (A-NZ) has announced Darren Keating as the new CEO of the organisation.
Keating succeeds Michael Worthington, who announced his plans to retire earlier this year.
With a background in Australia’s rural industries, including as livestock group manager with Victorians Farmers Federation and wool industry development officer at the Department of Primary Industries, Keating’s most recent role has been as executive officer with the Australian Fodder Industry Association.
“[Keating] will bring youth, energy and a dynamic approach to the organization,” said John Said, PMA A-NZ chairman. “One of his key strengths is his ability to build positive relationships and strategic alliances with a range of stakeholders across all sectors. He has an excellent track record in his most recent role … and we are confident he will bring fresh ideas and insights to PMA A-NZ and the fresh produce industry in general”.
“I am very excited to take on this leadership role with PMA A-NZ and look forward to proactively working with the members and all the other stakeholders in building on existing initiatives and unearthing new opportunities to further strengthen our services to members and our contribution to the fresh produce industry,” Keating said.
Worthington will work with Keating during the two to three month hand over period from mid-August.
Andrew Francey of OneHarvest will be joining PMA A-NZ as chairman from November when current chairman John Said will step down, while Joe Craggs of Tropical Pines has been announced as vice-chairman.
