The All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA) has elected Abdul Malik as its new chairman for the year 2013-14.
The election, which saw Malik unopposed, was held ahead of the PFVA’s annual general meeting (AGM) on Monday 30 September, where the new elected body will take oath.
Malik, a veteran of the fruit and vegetable trade, commenced his term as chairman on Tuesday 1 October.
Malik expressed a desire to coordinate with growers, exporters and related agriculture, food security and research and development departments to resolve issues within the country’s horticulture industry.
The PFVA was established in 1986. According to the association’s website, it recognises the enormous potential of Pakistan’s horticulture products in the global market and aims to create an export orientated environment, facilitated through maintaining quality standards, regulation and incentive schemes.
The association, which is a member of the Pakistani Chamber of Commerce and Industry, continues to strive hard for further expansion of export volume.
