Peruvian avocados are expected to gain market access to China, Peru-China Chamber of Commerce manager,Pablo César Matos León, has told website Agraria.pe.
Peru’s National Agricultural Health Service is working with the Chinese government to finalise the details of a new trade agreement, which could also see Peruvian lucumas gain entry.
The deal is believed to hinge on China’s stringent pest control and product quality restrictions.
Peru currently exports mangoes, oranges and table grapes to China.
The South American country is also hoping to gain approval to export asparagus to China later this year.
