Peruvian suppliers generated US$138m in sales orders during last week’s Asia Fruit Logistica, according to the country’s promotional committee for exports and tourism,PromPerú.
Seventy companies from the Latin American nation travelled to Hong Kong for last week’s trade show, exhibiting a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables including cranberries, avocados, citrus fruits, mangoes, bananas, pomegranates and asparagus.
“This outstanding figure demonstrates the tremendous success of Peruvian produce at the Asian trade fair, as well as the general popularity of the Super Foods Peru brand among all the international buyers,” said Luis Torres Paz, director of exports atPromPerú.
The Super Foods Peru brand was further showcased at an official ceremony held at the Sky 100 building in West Kowloon last Wednesday (6 September). The event was attended by 250 leading decision makers from the food sector and selected media.
Plans to open a new Peru trade office in Hong Kong were announced at the function. It is envisaged the office will open in the last quarter of 2017, strengthening the commercial presence Peru already enjoys in China with offices in Shanghai and Beijing.
