Eduardo Amorrortu Velayos has been elected as the new president of the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex), taking over from outgoing Juan Varilias Velásquez.
Amorrortu assumes his position as the tenth president of Adex on 1 April, according to a press release from the organisation, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in July.
Amorrortu is a graduate from Peru’s Naval College and has more than 22 years of experience working for export and logistics companies.
He is also the current president of Adex’s Services to Foreign Trade Committee and sits on the board of various institutions such as the National Port Authority (APN), the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (Basc) and the Association of Maritime Agents (Apam.)
Amorrortu will be supported in his role by Gastón Pachecho, first vice-president; Pedro Luksic, second vice-president, and Alejandro Pedraza, Juan Alfredo Menacho, Ricardo Huancaruna and Carlos Lozada.
The elections were held on 28 February in the Peruvian capital Lima.
