Peruvian minister of agriculture and irrigation, Juan Manuel Benites, has announced that Peru can go ahead with Hass avocado exports to China, reports Gestion.
Benites has estimated Peru’s Hass avocado will increase 18 per cent, or an additional US$50m annually, as a result of clinching access to the new market.
The announcement follows an agreement signed by China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (Aqsiq) and Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) in May, after six years of negotiations.
