paramount citrus

In the US, Paramount Citrus has opened a new 640,000ft2 packhouse, located in Delano, California.

In 2010, when the new packhouse was first mooted by president David Krause, he revealed that it was to help meet the growing demand for easy-peel citrus such as clementines.

According to The Packer, the packhouse will operate six days a week through April, with the capacity to fill 800,000 3lb bags of mandarins each day.

The packhouse will be partially driven by a 2.7mw solar plant on the roof, which is expected to generate 15 per cent of the facility's power.
