Pakistan and Indonesia are planning to sign a preferential trade agreement (PTA) during a forthcoming visit by Pakistan's commerce minister to Jakarta, reports Pakistan Today.
Once implemented, the PTA is expected to increase Pakistan's kinnow export earnings, since Indonesia is significant importer of the fruit.
High tariff barriers have in recent years prevented Pakistan from accessing this potentially lucrative market.
Pakistan and Indonesia have completed all necessary preliminary procedures prior to signing the PTA, the report said.
Pakistan's commerce minister is scheduled to travel to Jakarta on the invitation of his Indonesian counterpart to sign the agreement soon, it added.
