A workshop designed to improve the quality of Pakistani mangoes was held at Multan Fruit Farm, in the province of Punjab, on 25 June.
The programme was organised by the Mango Growers Cooperative Society Limited (MGCSL), in collaboration with the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company (PHDEC).
Attendees were given training in post-harvest handling practices designed to improve fruit quality, reduce losses and enable better quality mangoes to be delivered to consumers.
Scientists from the PARC showcased a unique mango harvesting and de-sapping machine, while growers and contractors received training in how to use the device, which would reduce damage and minimise fruit loss during harvest.
