Pakistan hopes to boost citrus exports to Indonesia once the two countries sign a preferential trade agreement (PTA), reports The Express Tribune.
At a meeting with Indonesia's ambassador to Pakistan this week, Pakistan's minister for food and agriculture Nazar Mohammad Gondal said Indonesia offered a rich potential market for Pakistani citrus and called for a speedy conclusion to the PTA, which is currently under negotiation.
'Export of our oranges to Indonesia have dropped dramatically owing to the increased customs duty there,' Mr Gondal told the ambassador.
'We call for an early conclusion of the PTA, which will prove to be a win-win situation for both of us.'
The ambassador asked Mr Gondal to attend a ministerial conference in Bali next month.
