Pakistan's Agriculture Minister Nazar M Gondal has held talks with the country's Argentinean ambassador Rodolfo J Marin Saravia, in a bid to boost exports of Pakistani fruits such as mangoes, kinnow mandarins, apples and dates to the South American country.
It is tipped that an agreement to do so will be signed soon, and Pakistan has announced it will consider importing Argentinean tea, Online International News Network reported.
'We are seriously considering importing tea from Argentina to strengthen the bilateral trade between the two countries,' said Mr Gondal.
He added that a team of Argentinean agricultural scientists would visit Pakistan in coming months to assist local growers.
The ambassador said Argentina was keen to share its knowledge and experience in agriculture with Pakistan.
'The government of Punjab and a province of Argentina will sign an agreement to jointly work on sugar,' Mr Saravia said.
Mr Gondal said Pakistan would be looking to encourage investment from private Argentinean firms.
'We must encourage and facilitate the private sectors to enhance the trade relationship which would be a win-win situation for both the countries,' he said.
