While Pakistan’s kinnow crop this year consists of larger sizes of healthy fruit, total volume is predicted to be down by 10 per cent.
All Pakistan Fruits and Vegetables Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association former chairman Waheed Ahmed told Pakistani newspaper the News he expected the country would achieve its export target for the 2010/11 season of more than 260,000 tonnes.
Mr Ahmed told the newspaper the current crop was estimated to fall from 1.8m tonnes last season to 1.6m tonnes.
According to the newspaper the export price this season has risen by one US dollar to US$4.80 per 10kgs.
The reason for this was an increase in size and quality, coupled with an increase in production, packaging and logistics costs, said Mr Ahmed.
