Chinese greengrocer Pagoda officially opened its first store in Taiwan on 14 August.
The store in Dali District, Taichung, is the first outside of mainland China for the rapidly expanding fruit store, and makes Pagoda the first Chinese fruit grocer top open a store in Taiwan.
The company said it has long wanted to open a store in Taiwan, and hopes to build stronger relationships with the local fruit businesses, and develop the fruit retail market in the country.
With few fruit shops in Taiwan, Pagoda chairman and co-funder Yu Huiyong said that there is an opportunity, and a challenge, in developing the chain store format in Taiwan.
Yu has previously told Fruitnet that Pagoda was eyeing stores in Singapore as well.
