Crimson Seedless grapes

The success of the first-ever consignment of Australian table grapes sent to China bodes well for future trade.

The container of Australian Crimson Seedless grapes that arrived at the port in Shenzhen last week was imported and distributed by major Chinese fruit company Golden Wing Mau.

“We are expecting more containers next year, and for sure more growers in Australia, and more buyers in China, will jump on board,” said managing director of Golden Wing Mau's international department Raymond Jin. “We are quite proud of what we have done, being the first to export Chinese Ya pears, Asian pears, Fragrant pears and Su pears into Australia. And now to be the first to import Australian grapes into China – we made history again.”

Mr Jin added that Golden Wing Mau is working to establish sales channels with Chinese supermarkets, which he said are becoming the most significant outlets for fruit retail in the country.
