NPCT1 was built in 2016 and is an important terminal serving mature gateway markets in South-East Asia. It has an annual capacity of 1.5mn TEUs and can accommodate advanced mega containerships with its deep drafts and modern equipment.

Jakarta is ONE’s third-largest volume port in the South-East Asian region. This acquisition strengthens ONE’s presence in the regional supply chain and helps safeguard its access to terminal capacity in an important region, the company said in a statement.

“NPCT1 is an efficient and green terminal that is strategically located in a fast-developing region,” Hiroki Tsujii, global chief officer of ONE’s product & network division said. “A stake in this terminal ensures access to capacity in a key gateway and supports our growth ambitions.”

This is the latest in a string of acquisitions completed by the company in recent times, including the acquisition of stakes in terminals on the US West Coast and Europe late last year.
