Shipping companies CMA CGM, Cosco, Evergreen and OOCL have forged a new agreement aimed at expanding the respective partners' international reach.
Referred to as Ocean Alliance Day 3, the latest venture is part ofthe companies' Ocean Alliance partnership and will apparently bring clients an optimised offering through the use of 330 container ships, 38 services and an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.8m TEUs.
Ocean Alliance was formed in 2016, expanding the global reach that each company can offer.
The newest product will help strengthen shipping channels between Europe and Asia, including the addition of a seventh service, totalling 19 transpacific services.
“This new agreement with our Asian partners will enable us to propose to our customers an unrivaled and competitive service offering. It is a milestone in our development strategy. It reinforces the CMA CGM Group in its key position within the industry,” said Rodolphe Saade, chairman and chief executive officer of the CMA CGM Group.
In addition to its services between Europe and Asia, the day three product offers four services between Asia and the Middle East, two Asia-Red Sea services, and two transatlantic services linking North Europe to the east coast of the US and the Gulf of Mexico.
