New Zealand’s Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) has amended its China Importing Countries Phytosanitary Requirements (ICPR) document to reflect that gold kiwifruit varieties are approved for entry to the Asian nation.
The government body will continue to issue phytosanitary certificates for export to the Peoples Republic for actinidia chinensis (gold kiwifruit), actinidia deliciosa x chinensis (green/gold cross kiwifruit) and actinidia deliciosa (green kiwifruit).
The move to amend the ICPR document comes after media reports last week suggested gold kiwifruit had “fallen off” the list.
The MPI assured growers that the ICPR list was not an official Chinese document and that New Zealand-grown gold kiwifruit has long been (and continues to be) approved for entry.
