Researchers, academics and health professionals will gather in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty to discuss the nutritional benefits of kiwifruit during the first International Symposium on Kiwifruit and Health.
The two-day event, being held from 12-14 April, will incorporate plenary sessions, case presentations and panel discussions with active participation from the audience.
Professor Jaap Seidell, director of the department of health sciences at the University of Amsterdam, headlines a high-powered programme of speakers who will discuss topics such as the benefits of kiwifruit through the properties of fibre and actinidin, along with the nutrient richness of the fruit.
Seidell is an eminent researcher whose expertise spans diet, healthy nutrition and the causes and effects which contribute to weight gain and obesity.
The Symposium will be hosted by the Riddet Institute - one of New Zealand’s National Centres of Research Excellence - and is sponsored by Zespri International.
