Post-harvest technology company Purfresh has expanded its footprint in New Zealand with the installation of one of its cold storage systems for grower-packer Yummy Fruit Company.
The Purfresh Cold Storage system generates ozone from onsite oxygen, which acts as an antibacterial agent and consumes ethylene gas.
Yummy Fruit Company will use the system to store Braeburn, Gala, Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples.
“Over the 30 years we have been in business, we have focused on delivering fresh, high quality, excellent tasting fruit to our customers, and Purfresh helps us met our high standards in an eco-friendly way,” said Yummy’s general manager Paul Paynter in a statement.
The cold storage system was installed by Post-Harvest Solutions Ltd, Purfresh’s representative in New Zealand.
