Japanese shipping group Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) announced late last month vice predisent Yasumi Kudo will move up the chain to take office at president of the company.
Mr Kudo will take the reins from 1 April, and takes over from Koji Miyahara, who will become NYK’s chaiman, reported the Journal of Commerce.
The current chairman, Takao Kusakari, will remain as a board member and take up the role of senior advisor.
Mr Kudo had a guiding hand in the formation of NYK Line’s current three-year management plan, ‘New Horizon 2010’. The plan is facing a full-scale review with respect to the rapidly falling demand for shipping.
The review will begin this month and be released in March.
