T&G Global have appointed Gareth Edgecombe (pictured bottom left) as their new CEO. Peter Landon-Lane has also joined as COO and will be acting CEO in the interim before Edgecombe commences the role (TBA).
Both Edgecombe and Landon-Lane will be based in T&G’s head office in Mt Wellington, Auckland.
Edgecombe began his career in food services at Coca-Cola Amatil in New Zealand, before moving onto Puhoi Valley Cheese. He also served on the board of the Australian Food and Grocery Council.
Landon-Lane is currently the CEO of Plant & Food Research where he led the merger of the Crop and Food Research, and HortResearch institutes. His career began in the New Zealand Department of Trade and Industry dealing with Asian nations as trade commissioner. He has also gained significant operations experience through time spent at Fonterra Cooperative Group.
“The Board is delighted to appoint Mr Landon-Lane as COO and acting CEO, particularly given his deep understanding of the horticultural sector and experience of T&G Global’s apple plant variety rights including JAZZ, Envy and Pacific Rose,” said T&G chairman, Klaus Josef Lutz.
Edgecombe will replace Thomas Bargetzi who has decided to step down as acting CEO at the end of the month, for family reasons. Bargetzi took the place of Alistair Hulbert who departed T&G abruptly in December 2017.
