Italian grower/exporter RK Marketing has unveiled a new series of seedless grape varieties that have been trialled over the past three years in the region of Puglia, as well as in neighboring Spain and Tunisia.
The Arra varieties, developed by Shakar Karniel of Israeli breeding centre ARD on bahalf of California-based group Giumarra, are due for commercial release in 2013 and will be marketed in increasing volumes over the next couple of years.
The series includes white, red and black varieties, spanning the entire production period.
'We expect to market between 70 and 100 containers of these different varieties next season,' confirmed the company's Paolo Carissimo.
'We have had requests for new plantings from a larger number of growers and we look forward to launching these exceptional varieties first in the European market where we have already reached relevant agreements with premium retailers in all countries.'
