Rob Campbell will take over the reins at New Zealand Investment firm Guinness Peat Group (GPG) after change-manager Mark Johnson stepped down last week.

The investment group, which part-owns Turners & Growers, is winding down its operations.

According to a report by Fairfax Media, Mr Campbell’s appointment comes into effect immediately and he will be charged with overseeing the company’s capital return to investors.

It was believed Mr Johnson would not seek re-election at the company’s annual meeting in June, and the board intends to replace him with an Australian-based independent director.
