A new biosecurity plan developed by the Australian government and horticulture lobby group Growcom for pineapple growers was released on Friday.
The group’s CEO Jan Davis said global warming meant biosecurity was becoming a more important issue, as changing environmental conditions transformed issues faced by growers.
The plan covers identification and tracking of high-risk pests to the pineapple industry, and outlines contingency plans against the introduction of exotic pest.
Development of the plan was by Plant Health Australia, with funding provided by Growcom and the Australian government.
