More than a hundred Chinese importers and distributors attended a presentation by Región de Murcia to showcase its stonefruit offer during last week’s iFresh China Fruit & Vegetable Expo in Shanghai.
It follows the recent announcement by the Chinese authorities that an import protocol would be in place in time for the start of the 2016 campaign.
“China is an incredible market, with huge potential for Murcian exporters,” said Joaquín Gómez, president of the grower-exporter association APOEXPA. “Now we need to get to work on the logistical issues, as there is lot to be done to analyse the different shipping options to find the fastest and most cost-effective method of reaching the market.”
The Murcian delegation also invited a group of Chinese importers to attend a regional stonefruit congress that will take place in Murcia in March 2016 so that they could visit production and packing facilities and experience first hand the technological advances made by the sector in recent years.
