The Indian division of US agricultural group Monsanto has established a US$5.5m vegetable conditioning unit on 13ha of land near Hyderabad.
According to a media release from Monsanto India, the facility is the first of its kind in the country and features the latest seed conditioning, treatment, drying and packaging technology.
'This unit is well equipped with farm technologies and facilities such as seed conditioning and packaging with a capacity of 15m units per annum,” stated the media release. “The unit also has an ambient warehouse that can store up to 200 tonnes of high-value packed seeds each year.”
