A proposed joint venture between Metro Cash and Carry Pakistan (MCCP) and Makro Habib Pakistan Limited (MHPL) is currently before the Pakistani anti-trust authority.
The joint venture would see the two wholesale companies share properties and the operations of these properties in Pakistan, Metro Group has reported on its website.
The parent company of MHPL, Thal Limited, will be the major stakeholder in the company and own the majority of the real estate, while Metro Cash and Carry will hold a major part of the operational business of MHPL and MCCP.
The arrangement should see economies of scale deliver higher returns to shareholders.
Both companies currently run five wholesale cash and carry outlets in Pakistan, with stores located in the cities of Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
