Maersk Line ship front

Maersk Line on Friday announced a rate increase on its services from North East and South East Asia to New Zealand.

The rate increase of US$250 per TEU will take effect on 15 July, and it will apply to services to New Zealand from South Korea, Russia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines, the shipping line said in a company statement.

Maersk Line’s latest move follows a general trend in the global shipping trade, which has been operating on very low freight rates over the past several months.

“The rate increase is necessary to operate our services with the high level of reliability our customers have come to expert from Maersk Line,” the company said.

The increase applies to all cargo and commodities, including reefers and special equipment.
